This message concerns further details of the Review of Mathematics which will be taking place this fall. First of all, I would like to announce that the committee which will conduct the review is completely determined. It has already been announced that the chair of the committee is Jean-Pierre Bourguignon, the Director of the IHES, Paris and the President of the European Mathematical Society. The remaining members of the committee are as follows:
Site visit itineraries are being planned for periods involving the weekend of October 19-20 and the weekend of December 7-8. In October the committee will first meet in Toronto and then split into two groups, with one group travelling east and the other west. These groups will conduct site visits in Edmonton, Halifax, Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver. In December the committee will travel to London and conduct their meeting in conjunction with the CMS Winter meeting. After that the committee will set about preparing their report which, hopefully, will be ready by the spring of 1997.
I am planning to organize a meeting early in September involving representatives of the five locations to be visited in October. The topic of discussion will be the format for the site visits. If you have any suggestions or opinions regarding these site visits (or more generally the review) I invite you to send your comments to me at rkane@fields.utoronto.ca.
